EnSmart SolarAll is the kit you can see in our own installation photography: the storage cabinets on our battery pages are SolarAll systems fitted by HCE on real jobs. Because the name appears on cabinets rather than in advertising campaigns, plenty of customers meet it for the first time at a survey and ask the reasonable question — what actually is it? The short answer: a home energy-storage system built from two published parts, a hybrid inverter and modular lithium battery packs, from a UK-headquartered manufacturer, with a matching EV charger available from the same maker. Here is the plain-English tour, using the published specifications throughout — and honest notes where a figure is not published at all.
Who makes it, and why the background matters
EnSmart Power is a power-electronics manufacturer headquartered in Braintree, Essex. Its published company profile describes more than four decades in the field, facilities in the UK, Turkey and China, equipment supplied to more than 50 countries, and a client list that runs to industrial names like GE Oil & Gas and Aramco. The company’s core trade is uninterruptible power supplies — the systems that keep hospitals, data rooms and industrial plants running when the grid fails.
That heritage is worth a sentence of reflection, because a domestic battery system is the same engineering problem at house scale: batteries, inverters and switchover electronics that have to work every day and fail never. It also explains a specification you will meet below that most home-storage brands do not carry.
Part one: the SolarAll-H hybrid inverter
The inverter is the brain of the kit. “Hybrid” means one unit does two jobs — converting your solar panels’ DC output into the AC power your home uses, and managing battery charging — where older setups needed separate boxes for each.
The published single-phase SolarAll-H range runs from 3 to 6kW, the sizing bracket for typical UK homes, with a three-phase HT series published at 10–20kW for larger properties and small commercial work. From the published specification sheet: maximum efficiency of 97.5%, silicon-carbide switching technology, an IP65 rating that permits indoor or outdoor mounting, operating noise below 25dB(A), an operating range from −25°C to +60°C, and MPPT tracking across 80–550V on the solar side. Two design details do the quiet heavy lifting: dual independent battery ports, and support for up to 15 units in parallel — which together are why the system can grow rather than being replaced.
The specification we find customers care about most, though, is the UPS function: a published 10-millisecond switchover for systems designed with backup capability. That is EnSmart’s UPS heritage showing through, and we cover what it does and does not mean for power cuts below.
Part two: the ELV battery packs
The storage is modular rather than monolithic. EnSmart’s ELV lithium battery series pairs with the SolarAll-H inverters, published from around 5kWh to 40kWh across the range. The wall-mounted ELV-W packs — the form most homes take — come in 5.12kWh and 10.24kWh sizes, use lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cells, and are rated for more than 6,500 charge cycles with a 15-year design life. They carry recognised battery-safety certifications — UL1973, IEC62619, UN38.3 and UL9540A — and support monitoring through a Bluetooth app and cloud platform, so you can see charge, discharge and state of health rather than guessing. Parallel connection is published up to 16 packs.
A word on what those numbers are for. Cycle ratings and design life describe endurance — what the engineering is built to withstand — and 6,500 cycles at one full cycle a day is comfortably more than 17 years of daily work. What they are not is a warranty, which brings us to the most honest section of this page.
What EnSmart does not publish — and what we do about it
EnSmart publishes less consumer-facing detail than the bigger household names, and the notable gap is warranty: its product pages do not publish standalone warranty periods for the SolarAll-H inverters or the ELV battery packs. Rather than dress a design-life figure up as a guarantee — a swap some sales material makes and hopes you will not notice — we treat warranty as a quote-stage document: the exact terms for your configuration, in writing, before you sign anything. The one published warranty in the family is on the EV charger below, listed at 2 years by its UK distributor. Hold us to that standard, and hold every other installer to it too.
Part three: the SmartBee-M charger, from the same maker
If an EV is part of your plans, EnSmart also makes the wall-mounted charger in our installation photos: the SmartBee-M. The published 7kW single-phase specification covers a Type 2 connection in socketed or tethered form, WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, RFID card access, OCPP 1.6 support, built-in residual-current protection, an IP65 weatherproof rating and that 2-year manufacturer warranty; a 22kW three-phase version exists for the minority of properties with the supply for it. One manufacturer across inverter, batteries and charging keeps design, monitoring and support coherent — fewer places for responsibility to hide if anything ever needs attention.
What it costs, and the window worth knowing
EnSmart does not publish a UK consumer price list, and we will not invent one — a battery quote built without your consumption data is a guess wearing a suit. What we can say with sources: installed residential solar and battery storage work is 0% VAT in Great Britain until 31 March 2027, and that zero rate has covered standalone battery retrofits — a battery added to an existing solar array, or fitted with no panels at all — since February 2024.
