Home Battery Brands, Compared

Quick answer

Choosing a home battery brand:

  • This page compares five lines — EnSmart, the line in HCE's own installs, alongside Sigenergy, Tesla Powerwall, EcoFlow and Fox ESS on their makers' published figures — and which suits depends on your consumption, EV plans, available space and how usage might change
  • Energy Saving Trust: a home battery can cost £1,500 to £10,000, and around £4,600 for a 5 kWh system — national figures; your price comes from a survey
  • Published capacities: Powerwall 3, 13.5 kWh per unit; Sigenergy, 6.02 or 9.04 kWh modules; EcoFlow, 5 kWh packs; Fox ESS, a 5.18 kWh unit up to 41.6 kWh
  • Warranties are each manufacturer's own, with their own conditions — EcoFlow, for example, publishes a 15-year warranty on its PowerOcean home battery
  • 0% VAT applies to installed domestic solar and battery systems until 31 March 2027, then 5% from 1 April 2027, under HMRC VAT Notice 708/6
  • We model the options side by side at a free survey and give you an itemised quote; for any line other than EnSmart we will confirm in writing how it would be supplied, who installs and commissions it, and what warranty attaches — if a smaller system serves you better, we will say so

Figures: Tesla, Sigenergy, EcoFlow and Fox ESS published specs; EcoFlow published warranty; Energy Saving Trust battery storage advice, updated 19 August 2026; HMRC VAT Notice 708/6.
