EcoFlow PowerOcean in Surrey
What EcoFlow PowerOcean means for a Surrey home, how it compares with the systems we fit, and a written answer on supply, installation and warranty if it is the one you want.
The EcoFlow PowerOcean is a modular home battery built from 5 kWh lithium iron phosphate packs, and Surrey’s larger houses give it room to grow: in Waverley 40.4% of households live in detached houses, and in Surrey Heath 43.7% do (Census 2021). This page sets the PowerOcean against Surrey’s homes and networks. The county picture is on solar panels in Surrey, the town detail on battery storage in Guildford, Farnham and Reigate, and how storage works in general on our battery storage page.
To be straight about the brand: the battery system in HCE’s own job photos is EnSmart; if an EcoFlow PowerOcean is what you want, ask us and we will confirm in writing how it would be supplied, who installs and commissions it, and what warranty attaches. Whoever fits it, a Surrey PowerOcean quote should be sized from your own consumption data, list the pack count and inverter, and come with EcoFlow’s full warranty document.
Quick answer
EcoFlow PowerOcean in Surrey:
- Our own work: the battery systems in HCE's own job photos are EnSmart; if EcoFlow PowerOcean is what you want, ask us and we will confirm in writing how it would be supplied, who installs and commissions it, and what warranty attaches.
- Cost: the Energy Saving Trust puts home battery storage at £1,500 to £10,000, with a 5 kWh system at around £4,600; a quote for your home comes from a survey of your usage.
- VAT: residential battery installations carry 0% VAT until 31 March 2027, then 5% from 1 April 2027.
- Grid: every battery is notified to, or approved by, the local network operator depending on its size (G98 or G99); the installer handles it.
- Power cuts: a standard grid-tied battery shuts down when the grid does; backup has to be designed in and is never assumed.
- Who fits it: HCE is a NAPIT member (73495), MCS-certified for solar PV and battery storage via NAPIT, and a HIES Consumer Code member.

How a home battery gets fitted in Surrey
Four steps from first call to switch-on. No pressure at any stage, and a straight answer if it would not pay its way.
- Step 1
Your usage, not a guess
We look at when your Surrey home uses power, especially evenings, and your tariff, because that, not the sunniest month, decides the battery size.
- Step 2
Sizing and siting
Where the unit can go (garage, utility room or an outside wall, as the manufacturer allows), whether it pairs with existing panels, and a written, itemised quote.
- Step 3
Installation and notification
Fitting and commissioning, with the battery notified to or approved by your network operator depending on its size. Backup in a power cut only if it is designed in.
- Step 4
Settings and handover
Charge and discharge set up around your tariff, the app explained, and the warranty documents in your hand.
How EcoFlow PowerOcean fits Surrey homes
Surrey’s detached and semi-detached houses often have a garage, utility room or side wall, and that suits the way the PowerOcean is built. EcoFlow offers wall-mount and floor-mount options, rates the enclosure IP65 and fits heating pads that warm the packs in cold weather, so a garage or an outside wall is a realistic position, subject to the siting rules checked at survey. The flats are the exception: in the Redhill East and Redhill West & Wray Common wards 36.9% of households live in purpose-built flats, and across Elmbridge it is 20.7%, so there a battery starts with the freeholder, not the floor plan.
On the grid, Surrey is split between two operators. The town centres of Guildford, Epsom, Reigate, Dorking and Caterham sit in UK Power Networks’ South Eastern area; Farnham, Camberley, Haslemere and Egham sit in SSEN’s Southern Electric area, and Godalming, Staines and Virginia Water town centres are close to the line, so a postcode check settles each address. The paperwork rule is the same on both: equipment up to 16 A per phase (3.68 kW) is notified under G98, and anything above needs a G99 approval before work starts. A single-phase PowerOcean’s published 6 kW off-grid figure is above that line, so ask how the connection would be applied for, and whether export limitation is part of the design.
Surrey: sunshine, the grid and local uptake
PVGIS puts a 4 kWp south-facing array across the Surrey towns we cover at about 130 to 140 kWh in December (Guildford lowest, Cranleigh and Dorking highest) against about 479 to 501 kWh in June (Camberley to Cranleigh). Godalming is the exception in December: its town-centre point sits in the Wey valley, where PVGIS’s terrain horizon cuts it to about 74 kWh; homes on higher ground or with an open southern view do better. That gap is why a PowerOcean is sized to the evening load rather than to winter: on our arithmetic December works out at about 4.2 to 4.5 kWh a day from that array, less than one 5 kWh pack holds. DESNZ records about 4,911 solar PV installations across Guildford borough, 4,475 across Reigate and Banstead and 4,325 across Waverley (end of 2025), and DVLA counts about 6,523 privately kept plug-in vehicles in Elmbridge, up from 5,249 a year earlier, the sort of change the PowerOcean’s add-a-pack model is meant for.
Ofgem’s 2024/25 figures put South Eastern Power Networks at about 42.2 supply interruptions per 100 customers and about 30.4 minutes lost per customer over the year, and Southern Electric Power Distribution at about 41.8 interruptions and 51.2 minutes, planned and unplanned together. Those are licence-area averages, not a forecast for any street.

EcoFlow PowerOcean in Surrey: questions
Can an EcoFlow PowerOcean go in a Surrey garage?
Often, yes. EcoFlow rates the PowerOcean IP65, offers wall-mount and floor-mount options and fits heating pads that keep the packs in their working range in winter, which makes an integral or detached garage a realistic spot in Surrey’s many detached and semi-detached houses. The survey still checks ventilation, clearances, the cable route to the consumer unit and any fire-separation rules before a position is agreed.
Which network operator handles a PowerOcean connection in Surrey?
It depends on the address. Town centres such as Guildford, Reigate and Dorking are on UK Power Networks’ South Eastern network, while Farnham, Camberley and Haslemere are on SSEN’s Southern Electric network, and several towns sit close to the boundary. The installer notifies or applies to the right operator; a postcode check confirms which one serves your home.
Does HCE fit EcoFlow PowerOcean systems in Surrey?
The battery system in HCE’s own job photos is EnSmart. If you want a PowerOcean, ask us and we will confirm in writing how it would be supplied, who installs and commissions it, and what warranty attaches, so you can compare it fairly with the systems we can show you.
Will a PowerOcean keep a Surrey home running in a power cut?
Only if it is specified and wired for backup. A standard grid-tied battery shuts down when the grid does. With a backup arrangement, a single-phase PowerOcean is published at up to 6 kW of continuous off-grid power, enough for lighting, the fridge, broadband and sockets but not every high-draw appliance at once, so the protected circuits are chosen at design stage.
